We were visiting the area and wanted a nice meal for out last evening. It's so hard to choose somewhere when you have no experience, but the reviews seemed good so we booked! The staff were super, atmosphere was lovely - it was somewhere we felt comfortable 'dressing up' with nice shirts and dress/heels. (saying this it is very friendly and welcoming, if you wore jeans no one would think any different, it was just nice to dress up! In fact my moody 15 years old wore a hoody, whilst I wore a nice dress and heels) The food was incredible. Absolutely perfectly cooked. I had scallops to start, cooked beautifully, and the lamb for main which was melt in the mouth like a well cooked steak. I'm not a pudding girl but I was almost tempted because the others courses were so incredible. If you want a good well cooked meal that's a bit special, go here. The prices were very fair based on the quality produced - we had eaten at several other local pubs wiht normal pub menus, and the prices were only different in a couple of , well worth it for something special. My vegetarian son had a lovely choice too. Can't rate it high enough, very very impressed.

Birthday meal out whilst on holiday in Wales. This place was recommended by the lady in the B&B we were staying at and it was as good as she said. Food was delicious, service great. The staff were super efficient and friendly. Prices were aittle high to what we are used to but the quality of the food, service and ambiance made it worth every penny. I would recommend this restaurant and would gladly return if I was in the area

Dined here on my birthday as part of a short break. We wanted something special and we really were not disappointed, the food at Y Sgwar was top class. I had the rib eye steak which exceptional with garlic butter. My partner had the Welsh lamb, which again was very good. She was more than happy with the mussles starter, which was not far off a main for quantity. Friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend.

Super buzzy place. Very good food. Be cautious about huge portions, each dish is probably enough to feed two adults .

The ambience was lovely and choice soon the menu excellent. The food was incredible. Highly recommend. The non alcoholic beverages were great. We really enjoyed our meal and evening.

When you're in a small town or village it can often be a challenge finding good food as the choice is so limited. A good example of this is Porthmadog but luckily Y Sgwar is only a short drive away in Tremadog. It's definitely worth making the trip. Inside the restaurant it's immediately obvious that this is a step above the norm. It has that elegant, fine-dining aesthetic and sense of itself that's always welcome. Part of this is the level of service and we were well looked after as soon as we walked through the door. Of course none of this matters if the food isn't up to scratch. It's not an extensive menu with quite a leaning towards steak, pork and fish with limited vegetarian options. But the dishes are interesting and we were satisfied with duck breast and pork belly. This all arrived in due course. Even before taking a bite we could see that thought had been put into the presentation and that we weren't being short changed on the quantities. Then luckily our meals were also excellent being well cooked and delicately flavoured. After this we all went for desserts which were also great. I particularly liked my apple strudel with raspberry sorbet. It all went down nicely with a good bottle of Viognier. A super meal then and no more expensive than much less impressive restaurants. So do yourself a favour and book into Y Sgwar.

Amazing Food and Atmosphere in Tremadog I had a wonderful dinner at Y Sgwar in Tremadog, North Wales. The food was absolutely delicious—everything was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You could really tell that the chef knows exactly what they're doing and puts a lot of care and skill into each dish. Every bite felt thoughtful and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the location right in the village square made it even more special. I also loved the soft, beautiful music playing in the background—it added a calm, relaxing touch to the whole experience. If you're in North Wales and want a memorable meal in a cozy setting, I highly recommend Y Sgwar.
